I think the B-26 would be a good follow-on for this. I think the Pacific Theater has interesting airplanes and general Kenny would be a good person to follow. There a good stories on p-38s in in that theater of war.

Fun fact, the Japanese thought they sunk 4 carriers between the battles of the Coral Sea and Midway. They sunk the Lexington in the battle of the Coral Sea. They ALSO thought they sunk the Yorktown. Then they thought they Sunk the Yorktown at Midway. Then they ACTUALLY sunk the Yorktown with a submarine attack.

The route and timing of the B29 aircrews from the west coast to Tinianin would be an interesting idea;. as would the ferry flight from the US to India.

Geesh, they didn't wait long to divy up his stuff. Something sounds wrong with his story, as he tells it. First he threw his radio at the zero, but then later, he said he radioed two fighters to help get the zero off their tail. Maybe its just out of sequence.

I tell you what... He has an airfield around here named after him.. If they ever rename it, I will be pissed off. Besides, my grandpa was USMC stationed in China, repaired and flew the B-25s; and within 24 hours of promotion he always got busted down to private.

All pilots are heroes...then and now including commercial pilots. I understand there was a level of respect between enemy pilots. I don't understand war and killing people. I obviously wouldn't be a combat soldier...more like a spy. But a big thank you for your service for all who fought. I ❤ USA!
